The Works Progress Administration (WPA) hired many unemployed citizens to help build a strong community. Many small businesses liked the WPA, maybe for the reason that the WPA built their business. The Works Progress Administration was created in 1935 and was designed to be a relief program. Young men could join to work for the WPA and make minimum wage.
